The Champion/Beacon/Humboldt Historical Society

The Champion/Beacon/Humboldt Historical society is working hard to gather pictures and information for a Pictorial History book.  The book will cover approximately the first century of the history of Champion, Beacon and Humboldt.

Good progress has been made in gathering materials for the book; however, we are lacking some important pictures.  We realize that there are many interesting and important items (pictures, documents, memorabilia, etc.)  which we are not aware of that could be important contributions to the publication.

Please help us produce a book that we can all be proud of by sharing your items with us.
While we are grateful for donated items, we do not require an original and will easily make copies and return your original promptly. We will gladly come to your home or business to make any necessary copies.

It is clear that the effort and support of everyone in our community is necessary to assure the success of our book.

If you have any items, suggestions, or questions please contact

EMERGENCY SERVICES BOARD

The Emergency Services Board (EMS) formed when the townships of Champion and Humboldt joined together to financially support the Champion-Humboldt Fire and EMS Departments.  The people who worked on this committee to make this happen are as follows:  Roy Pascoe, Rodney Wiest, Berle LaPin, Sanford Pesola, Jacqueline Koski, Cheryl Koppinger, Jackie Adair and Brad Hamel.

The ESB was established for the purpose of protecting the public, health, safety and general welfare of Champion and Humboldt Townships.  The agreement was further established for the purpose of:

  1. Providing fire and emergency medical services within the service area.
  2. Establishing and operating the Champion-Humboldt Fire and EMS Departments.
  3. Obtaining fire and emergency medical service equipment for the use within the sevice area.
  4. Promoting interest in and further development of fire protection and first aid/rescue activites within the service area.

The ESB has developed an in-depth Mutual Aid agreement with Republic Township for fire protection for the middle and southern'most sections of Humboldt Township.
